In 2012 Emerson Process Management established a boot camp for new employees. In the boot camp I teach the classes on process control. The presentation I use in boot camp is based on material and process examples from our book Control Loop Foundation – Batch and Continuous Processes. The students in the boot camp use their laptops and web browser to access the book’s web site and to perform the 19 workshops included in the book. This year 28 new employees were enrolled in the boot camp. I taught the portion on process control July 16th-19th, 2013. The following picture shows the students in the boot camp performing one of the workshops.
This year the process control portion of boot camp was expanded by ½ day. This extra time allowed me to add an overview of some more advanced topics that we address in our book Advanced Control Foundation – Tools, Techniques, and Applications. The material that I added to the third day of the boot camp can be viewed below.
